1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information when you use Cubbie:
- Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. Your email is used to identify your account and, if applicable, to verify admin access.
- Location data: With your permission, we access your device's GPS coordinates to show nearby kid-friendly places. Your location is used in-app only and is not stored on our servers.
- Submitted content: If you submit a location, we store the place name, address, coordinates, category, and any optional comments you provide, along with your account email and submission timestamp.
- Votes: When you vote on a location, we store your vote (up or down) linked to your account and the location ID.
- Issue reports: If you report a problem with a location, we store the report type, details, your account email, and submission timestamp.
- Usage data: We collect anonymized analytics events (such as app opens and feature usage) via Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used.
- Advertising data: The free version of Cubbie displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve relevant ads. See Google's privacy policy for details.
- Preferences: Settings such as your unit preference (metric/imperial) are stored locally on your device.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To display nearby kid-friendly places on the map
- To save and display your submitted locations after admin review
- To record and display community votes on locations
- To enable admin review of submissions and issue reports
- To improve the app through anonymized usage analytics
- To serve advertisements in the free version of the app
We do not use your information for marketing, profiling, or any purpose not listed here.
3. Children's Privacy
Cubbie is designed for use by parents and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The app does not require or permit children to create accounts or submit data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@mycubbie.com and we will delete it promptly.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore), hosted in the United States. Firebase enforces strict security rules — your votes are only visible to you, and submitted content is only writable by authenticated users. We use Firebase's built-in security features and access controls to protect your data.
We do not store passwords. Authentication is handled entirely by Google Sign-In.
5. Third-Party Services
Cubbie uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase — database, authentication, hosting, analytics
- Google AdMob — advertising (free version only)
- Geoapify — reverse geocoding when processing submitted map links
We do not sell or share your personal information with any other third parties.
6. Removing Ads
Cubbie offers an in-app purchase to permanently remove ads. If you purchase the "Remove Ads" option, AdMob will no longer serve ads in your session and no advertising-related data collection will occur through our app. All purchases are processed by Apple and subject to Apple's privacy policy.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account-associated data (submissions, votes, issue reports) for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the service. If you wish to delete your data, contact us at support@mycubbie.com and we will remove your account data within 30 days.
Locally stored preferences (unit settings, cached data) can be cleared by deleting and reinstalling the app.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To make a request, contact us at support@mycubbie.com.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
